San Giuseppe Fair

The 2025 San Giuseppe Fair confirmed in Salignano the charm of one of the oldest traditions of Lower Salento. On March 18th, in the late afternoon, the statue of the saint was carried in procession through the streets of the hamlet to the Church of San Giuseppe, where mass was celebrated; in the evening, in Piazza Umberto I, the community gathered around Salento folk music, with the pizzica as the protagonist.

On March 19th, the liturgical feast of San Giuseppe, the historic fair — the "first spring fair" — came to life from the early hours of the day along Via San Giuseppe, with its stalls of local produce, handicrafts, and antiques. Holy masses in the church, the procession of the statue towards the Mother Church, and evening musical appointments in the square marked a day of great participation, between faith and popular celebration.
