Edition 2025 — Tonnara Festival
The 11th edition of the San Giorgio Tonnara Festival was held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, in the seaside village of San Giorgio, a district of Gioiosa Marea (Messina). The event featured an exhibition of tuna fishing tools and memorabilia from the museum heritage linked to the tonnara, as well as tastings of traditional tuna-based products.
At 7:00 PM, the conference 'San Giorgio: sea and traditions' took place, dedicated to the history and maritime identity of the village; in the evening, at 9:30 PM, a free concert by the 'XXL' orchestra brought the festival to life. The 2025 edition, organized by the Vivi San Giorgio Association with the Pro Loco and the patronage of the Municipality, reaffirmed the goal of safeguarding and revaluing an ancient Sicilian tradition.
