San Giorgio Nautical Fair in Gioiosa Marea

The 2025 edition took place on Thursday, August 28 on the seafront of San Giorgio, in the Municipality of Gioiosa Marea (Messina). The central moment was the conference "A Sea full of Opportunities", starting at 7:30 PM, dedicated to artisanal fishing and the promotion of so-called "low-value fish", a precious resource from a nutritional and environmental point of view.

Speakers included, among others, Mayor Giusy La Galia, Teresa Romeo from the Anton Dohrn Zoological Station, Nino Accetta from FEDAGRI Pesca Sicilia, Giovanni Mangano from the Capo Milazzo Marine Protected Area, and architect Giovanni Cucchiara from the Mediterranean Fisheries Department of the Sicilian Region, addressing themes of fishing sustainability, marine biodiversity, and local maritime traditions.

The evening continued with tastings of local fish-based dishes (8:30 PM) and live music by the band Scialla (9:00 PM), in a festive atmosphere that brought together the community, institutions, and industry experts.
