About San Giorgio Festival

When spring arrives, Solza celebrates its patron saint, San Giorgio, with the oratory festival. Under the marquee in Via San Giovanni Bosco, three evenings of celebration offer typical cuisine, grilled dishes, Saturday paella, tombola, and lots of fun with live music. A genuine village festival in the small town in the Bergamo area, the birthplace of Bartolomeo Colleoni, where the community gathers for good food and conviviality.

The San Giorgio Festival in Solza

The San Giorgio Festival is the patronal feast of Solza, a small municipality in the Province of Bergamo known as the homeland of Bartolomeo Colleoni, a famous condottiero born in the local castle in 1395. Organized at the town's oratory, in Via San Giovanni Bosco, the festival celebrates the patron saint San Giorgio with three evenings of celebration in the heart of spring.

Three Evenings of Taste

The heart of the event is the food, set up under the oratory's marquee. The program features traditional dishes, grilled specialties, and some highly anticipated fixed events: on Friday, the kitchen opens from 7 PM and tombola; on Saturday, the grand paella and evening entertainment; on Sunday, lunch starting at noon and dinner from 7 PM, with a final tombola.

Community Celebration

The San Giorgio Festival is above all a moment of gathering for the Solza community and neighboring towns in the Isola Bergamasca area. With shared tables, games, live music, and lots of cheer, the oratory becomes the meeting point for an entire community celebrating its patron saint in a familiar and festive atmosphere.

In the Isola Bergamasca

Solza is located in the Isola Bergamasca, the area between the Adda and Brembo rivers, in Lombardy. The festival is also an opportunity to discover this small village and its historical heritage, starting with the Colleoni Castle, during a spring weekend dedicated to tradition.
