Edition 2025 — San Filippo August Festival
The 2025 edition of the San Filippo d'Agira August festival took place in Limina (Metropolitan City of Messina) on August 16th, as part of the Ferragosto triduum dedicated to emigrants.
As per tradition, in the morning, the statue of the Black Saint was carried on shoulders in a procession through the streets of the town; in the afternoon, the descent towards the Calvario and Durbi districts took place, with the bearers' dance and the characteristic running laps. The village streets were colored with nzareddi, the traditional local paper ribbons. The day concluded late in the evening with the saint's return to his church and the usual fireworks display, in a celebration that reunites the Liminese community and its emigrants every summer.
