Saints Cosmas and Damian Festival

The 2025 edition of the Saints Cosmas and Damian Festival took place as usual on the last Sunday of September at the Sacra Famiglia parish in Santa Teresa di Riva. The festivities followed the well-established pattern of previous years: Eucharistic celebrations, moments of prayer and devotion to the Physician Saints, and the solemn procession of the statue group created in 1927, carried on shoulders through the streets of the Torrevarata district.

The festival confirmed its value as an identity-defining event for the community of this seaside village in Messina, capable of uniting the religious dimension with the popular one. Amidst lights, the accompaniment of the band, and the choral participation of the faithful, the celebration of Saints Cosmas and Damian reaffirmed itself as one of the most heartfelt moments of the autumn in Santa Teresa, in the wake of a devotional tradition that dates back to 1928 in Santa Teresa di Riva.
