Edition 2025 — Saints Cosmas and Damian Festival
The 178th edition
The 2025 edition of the Saints Cosmas and Damian Festival took place in Sferracavallo, a seaside village of Palermo, from September 25 to 29, reaching the 178th edition of a centuries-old tradition.
The highlight was the solemn procession on Sunday, September 28, when the barefoot bearers, dressed in white with red scarves, led the statues of the saints through the village for nearly twelve hours, at the characteristic fast pace marked by the marches. Friday, September 26, saw the procession of the sancusimicchi children; Saturday, September 27, featured the alborata at sunset on the pier and the historic rowing boat regatta. A market fair with its stalls enlivened the village for the entire week, while the fireworks on Monday, September 29, closed the festivities on the Baia del Corallo gulf.
