Morro d'Alba transforms into Cupid's village with art, wine, and sensuality
Every year, around February 14th, the Municipality of Morro d'Alba (province of Ancona, Marche) dresses up for Saint Valentine in the Village of Love. The small medieval village, one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, becomes "Cupid's village" for the occasion: a widespread itinerary that blends culture, sensuality, art, and wine along the streets of the historic center and the famous 'La Scarpa' walkway, the ancient fortified passage that encircles the town.
The heart of the event is the 'La Scarpa' walkway itself, offering a unique view of the Vallesina hills. Along the path, you'll find melodies, guided tours, and itinerant tastings of the region's signature wine, Lacrima di Morro d'Alba DOC. This indigenous grape variety, with its intense aroma of rose and violet, has made this corner of the Marche famous. Wineries, the municipal wine shop, restaurants, and artisan shops offer special packages, themed menus, and romantic aperitifs for the occasion.
The event also boasts a strong cultural focus, with recurring exhibitions held in the cellars of the Utensilia Museum, the council hall-art gallery, and the Church of San Gaudenzio, paying homage to great names in Marche and contemporary art. The village is filled with installations and setups designed for couples:
The most anticipated moment of the evening is the 'Erotico d'Autore' reading, set in the evocative cellars of the Castle: a reading of sensual and refined texts that play with elegance and irony. During the day, the squares come alive with Carnival masks curated by local associations, in an atmosphere that combines the lovers' festival with the popular traditions of the period. The event is promoted by the Municipal Administration of Morro d'Alba, together with the Pro Loco and the circuit of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy in the Marche region.
For the 2026 edition, the village of Morro d'Alba lit up with initiatives dedicated to lovers. From 11:00 AM, the 'La Scarpa' walkway hosted melodies, guided tours, and itinerant wine tastings, while exhibitions set up in the cellars of the Utensilia Museum, the council hall-art gallery, and the Church of San Gaudenzio enriched the route, accompanied by a photographic treasure hunt for children.
In the afternoon, the celebration moved to the square with Carnival masks curated by local associations, themed menus, and romantic aperitifs in the village's restaurants and bars. In the evening, from 9:30 PM, the Castle cellars provided the backdrop for the 'Erotico d'Autore' reading, performed by Francesca Rossetti and Paolo Brugiati.
Morro d'Alba is located inland in the province of Ancona, in the Vallesina area. By car, you can reach it from the Ancona Nord or Senigallia exit of the A14 highway, heading inland. The nearest train station is Senigallia, from which you can continue by car or bus.
Access to the village and the various events is generally free; reservations are recommended for certain activities such as guided tours, tastings, and readings. Wine tastings and guided tours may involve a fee. For updated information, it is advisable to consult the Municipality of Morro d'Alba and the PROMORRO Pro Loco.
