Saint Sophia Festival - Piano Vetrale

The 2025 edition

In 2025, the Saint Sophia Festival was held in Piano Vetrale, a village in the Municipality of Orria, on the fixed day of the liturgical memory of the saint and her three daughters: September 30th, which fell on a Tuesday that year. On the eve of the anniversary, the Cilento press returned to cover the cult of Saint Sophia in Cilento and its deep roots in the 'village of murals'.

A tradition that repeats itself

The pattern is the one handed down for generations: the novena that fills the 15th-century church, the vigil mass with the solemn Eucharistic blessing, the brass band tour winding from the outskirts up to the church square, and the procession with the images of the saint and her three daughters. A day that combines devotion and community reunion, and which draws back to the village those who have left for Agropoli, Battipaglia, Northern Italy, and Germany.
