Edition 2025 — January Saint Sebastian

In 2025, Melilli once again celebrated the winter festival of Saint Sebastian on January 20th, in memory of the patron's dies natalis. At dawn, the Basilica welcomed the faithful for the traditional Unveiling of the Simulacrum to the singing of the Te Deum, followed by Holy Masses and the solemn pontifical. During the octave, the statue remained exposed for veneration, with the exhibition of ex-voto, until the closing Cunsarbata on January 27th.

The 2025 edition of the January Saint Sebastian Festival followed the usual liturgical sequence in the Basilica of Melilli. On January 20th, at dawn, the faithful gathered for the Unveiling of the Simulacrum on the high altar, accompanied by the singing of the Te Deum, a moment of intense devotional significance for the community.

Throughout the day, Holy Masses and the evening solemn pontifical took place, with the participation of civil and military authorities and the offering of wax to the saint by the municipal administration. During the octave, the Simulacrum remained exposed for veneration, accompanied by the exhibition of ex-voto, until the closing Cunsarbata on January 27th, featuring a procession and the singing of the hymn to Saint Sebastian.
