The August 16th festival with procession, music, and fireworks
The Festival of Saint Roch is one of the most cherished events in the calendar of Ripabottoni (CB), a small village in Basso Molise. It is celebrated on August 16th, the saint's liturgical day, and is part of the rich program of events that enlivens the town during August.
The central moment is the procession with the saint's statue through the streets of the historic center, accompanied by the faithful. The religious aspect is complemented by music in the square and, in some editions, fireworks displays to conclude the day. The festival serves as a gathering point for the community and for the many emigrants who return to their hometown during the summer.
In August, Ripabottoni experiences its most vibrant period, with various events including music, gastronomy, and culture: from the Saint Roch festival to the Cappuccilli Lyric Competition, and food festivals. It's a village that, despite its small size, preserves a remarkable historical and artistic heritage in the heart of Molise.
In 2026 too, Ripabottoni (CB) will celebrate Saint Roch on August 16th. The day will include the procession with the saint's statue through the village streets, accompanied by music in the square and, according to tradition, fireworks.
The detailed 2026 program will be released by the parish and municipality closer to the festival. Traditional structure:
The Saint Roch procession and the evening fireworks.
Ripabottoni (CB) is reachable by car; approximately 35 km from Campobasso, or from the Larino area along the internal roads of Basso Molise.
August 16th, Saint Roch's feast day.
Celebrations and events are free to attend.
