Edition 2025 — Saint Rita in Bompensiere

In May 2025, Bompensiere renewed its devotion to Saint Rita of Cascia with the traditional religious festival. The community gathered around the saint's statue for the evening procession through the village streets, accompanied by the recitation of the Rosary and hymns, leading to the votive chapel on Via Pascoli, where the priest blessed the roses and the traditional 'rosette' bread distributed to the faithful.

In 2025, the Saint Rita Festival once again brought together the small community of Bompensiere, in the province of Caltanissetta, for one of the town's most beloved religious observances. The celebration took place in May, around the liturgical date of the 22nd.

The heart of the festival was the evening procession: led by the confraternity, it saw the statue and relic of Saint Rita carried on the shoulders of the village women through the streets of the historic center to the votive chapel on Via Pascoli. The procession was accompanied by prayers, hymns led by the priest, and the notes of the marching band.

The traditional rituals were all present: the blessing of the roses and 'rosette' bread, the tasting of ricotta, and the fireworks display to close the evening, all in an atmosphere of strong community participation.
