Saint Nicholas Feast (Patronal Feast, December)

In December 2025, the community of Salve, in the province of Lecce, observed the liturgical feast of its patron, Saint Nicholas of Myra. The feast, celebrated on December 6th on the day of the saint's dies natalis, was primarily religious in nature: the preparatory novena in the preceding days, the solemn mass, and the traditional procession with the statue of the Bishop of Myra through the village streets.

The winter celebration, more intimate than the major civil festivities of May and summer, reaffirmed the strong bond between the Salve community and its protector, a central figure of popular devotion in the Capo di Leuca region of Puglia.
