Edition 2025 — Saint Michael the Archangel Nicosia

In 2025, the Saint Michael the Archangel Festival was celebrated in the San Michele district of Nicosia on Easter Monday, April 21, preceded by Easter Sunday services. As per centuries-old tradition, the statue of the Archangel was carried in procession through the streets of the historic center, amidst confraternities, a band, and the greasy pole game.

The 2025 edition confirmed the deep bond between Nicosia and its Archangel. The celebrations in the San Michele district combined religious rites with popular festivities: masses in the medieval church, the participation of the San Michele and Santissimo Sacramento confraternities, and the procession of the statue by Stefano Li Volsi through the historic neighborhoods.

In 2025, there was no shortage of traditional greasy pole games in their pole, rope, and horseback variations, the ritual consumption of fennel and lettuce, and the closing fireworks, confirming a festival that involves the entire Nicosia community.
