A Hill Overlooking the Border

Rodero, in the Province of Como (Lombardy), is a small village on the border with Switzerland, in the Mendrisiotto region. Its symbol is the Colle di San Maffeo (Saint Maffeo Hill), a panoramic elevation topped by the chapel dedicated to the saint, a destination for walks and the heart of the village's religious and festive traditions. It is here that every year, at the beginning of August, the Sagra di San Maffeo (Saint Maffeo Festival), Rodero's patronal feast, is celebrated.

Faith and Procession

The heart of the festival is the solemn mass in honor of Saint Maffeo, the town's patron saint, followed by the traditional procession that winds through the streets of Rodero, reinforcing the community's sense of belonging and spirituality. It is the most heartfelt moment of the feast, linking generations to their history and their hill.

Typical Lombard Cuisine

After the religious moments, the celebration comes alive around the food stalls, where you can taste the dishes of typical Lombard cuisine: grilled meats, cured meats, cheeses, polenta, and artisanal desserts, prepared according to tradition. The table becomes a place for conviviality, in a festive and welcoming atmosphere.

Music, Games, and Community

The San Maffeo Festival also offers live music, traditional games, tombola (bingo), and entertainment for children, with moments of dancing and socializing that make it perfect for those who love village festivals and local traditions. Organized by the Gruppo San Maffeo, it is part of a calendar of events that liven up the hill throughout the year, from the Sports Festival to the Solidarity Festival.
