Edition 2025 — Saint Lucy and the Fanòi

On December 12th and 13th, 2025, Galatone celebrated Saint Lucy with its fanòi. On the night of the 12th, bonfires were lit in the city's districts, including San Luca-Fulcignano, drawing families and visitors around the fire on the longest night of the year. The festival combined religious rites—solemn Mass and the procession with the Saint's statue—with popular festivities, including illuminations, brass band music, and traditional Salento tastings.

Saint Lucy 2025 in Galatone

The 2025 edition took place on December 12th and 13th in the historic center and districts of Galatone (LE). On the night of December 12th, the traditional fanòi were lit—the large bonfires that burn in the city's neighborhoods. Residents and visitors gathered around the fire for the longest night of the year, dedicated to the patron saint of eyesight.

The program alternated between religious moments—the solemn Holy Mass in the Mother Church and the procession with the statue of Saint Lucy accompanied by local bands—and civil festivities, with artistic illuminations in the historic center, folk and brass band concerts, and performances by folklore groups. There was no shortage of food stalls serving pittule, friselle, pezzetti di cavallo, traditional sweets, and new wine, ending with a fireworks display.
