Edition 2025 — Saint Lucy Festival

On December 13, 2025, Villa Santa Lucia degli Abruzzi celebrated the patronal feast of Saint Lucy, the virgin and martyr of Syracuse who gives the village its name. On the liturgical day of the saint of light, the small mountain community gathered around the church of Saint Lucy for a solemn mass and procession, renewing a devotion documented since the Middle Ages at the gateway to the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park.

The 2025 edition of the Saint Lucy Festival took place on December 13th, the liturgical day of the patron saint of Villa Santa Lucia degli Abruzzi. Following a centuries-old tradition, the village community gathered around the church of Saint Lucy for a solemn mass and procession in the heart of the Apennine winter. The festival, experienced as a moment of identity and light during the darkest days of the year, confirms the deep bond between the village and the Syracusan saint who bears its name.
