Edition 2025 — Saint Lucy Savoca

The 2025 edition of the Saint Lucy Festival in Savoca took place over the weekend of Saturday, August 9, and Sunday, August 10, the second Sunday of the month. The village near Messina relived the living sacred re-enactment of the patron saint's martyrdom, featuring 'la Lucia' motionless on a devotee's shoulders, Roman soldiers, the flight of the oxen through the alleys, and the figure of 'u diavulazzu'. In the evening, the solemn procession of the 1666 silver statue crossed the historic center accompanied by the band, amidst popular faith and fireworks.

Saint Lucy Festival 2025 in Savoca

The 2025 edition was held over the weekend of August 9 and 10, following the custom of the second Sunday of August. Organized by the Confraternity of Saint Lucy, it brought the community of Savoca together around its patron saint.

Among the most anticipated moments were the sacred re-enactment of the martyrdom staged in the village squares, featuring the running of the oxen and the figure of 'u diavulazzu', as well as the solemn evening procession of the silver statue through the streets of the historic center, accompanied by the brass band and concluded with traditional fireworks.
