Edition 2025 — Saint Lucy Festival
2025 Edition
The 2025 Saint Lucy Festival in Santa Lucia del Mela (Messina) was celebrated on December 13th, renewing a centuries-old devotion. The preparatory novena accompanied the community from December 4th to 12th, every day at 5:30 PM, at the Church of the Capuchins.
On the day of the solemnity, holy masses were celebrated starting at 6:00 AM, every hour. At 10:00 AM, the procession of the patron saint's statue began through the village streets; at 11:00 AM, in the Church of the Annunziata, the solemn pontifical mass was celebrated, presided over by Monsignor Giovanni Accolla. Afterwards, the procession resumed its route to return to the Church of the Capuchins, where a shuttle bus service was available.
Also in 2025, due to the ongoing closure of the Co-cathedral for serious structural problems, religious ceremonies took place in the Churches of the Capuchins and the Annunziata, confirming the great participation of faithful and pilgrims from neighboring towns.
