The 2025 Saint Lucy Festival in Modica

Also in 2025, the community of Modica, in the province of Ragusa, honored Saint Lucy on December 13th with an intense day of devotion. The services were concentrated in the Mother Church of San Giorgio, in Modica Alta, with numerous Eucharistic celebrations distributed from early morning until evening, starting with the evocative Mass of Light.

During the day, the traditional cucciteddi, prepared with only flour and water and blessed according to ancient custom, were distributed to the faithful, while the Cannolo Festival allowed for the tasting of one of the symbols of Sicilian pastry. In the late afternoon, the procession accompanied the statue of the saint through the streets of the historic center, to the notes of the Belluardo-Risadelli band, concluding with a fireworks display.
