Edition 2025 — Saint Joseph's in Lascari

In 2025, Lascari once again celebrated Saint Joseph with its most cherished rituals. Around March 19th, the community gathered for the Tavolata dei Virgineddi along Via Libertà, considered the longest in Italy, preceded by the Vampa bonfire on the eve and accompanied by votive altars in homes and the procession of the saint. A festival that blends devotion, traditional gastronomy, and solidarity, following the path toward UNESCO recognition.

The 2025 edition of the Saint Joseph's Feast in Lascari (Palermo) confirmed the vitality of a centuries-old tradition. On the eve of March 18th, the Vampa was lit, while on March 19th, Via Libertà hosted the Tavolata dei Virgineddi, the longest Saint Joseph's table in Italy, laden with votive peasant dishes and shared by hundreds of diners in multiple shifts. The event also featured Saint Joseph's Altars set up in homes, votive breads, and the solemn procession of the saint's statue. The festival is part of the ongoing bid to have this tradition recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, launched in Lascari in January 2024 alongside other Sicilian municipalities.
