The traditional spring fair in the shadow of the Visconteo Castle
The Saint Joseph's Fair is one of the most cherished events in the calendar of Pandino, in the province of Cremona. Linked to the feast day of the saint, which falls on March 19th, the fair takes place on the closest Sunday and symbolically marks the opening of spring in the Cremasco territory. The heart of the event is the Visconteo Castle area, the 14th-century manor that dominates the town center and opens its halls and courtyards to the public for the occasion.
Throughout the day, the streets of the center and the castle area fill with stalls: the traditional market, craft and hobbyist markets, and exhibitions by local businesses and artisans. There are also typical products from the Cremasco food and wine scene and street food stands, transforming the fair into an open-air journey of flavors.
The Visconteo Castle is the true cultural protagonist of the day. Its halls host painting exhibitions, thematic displays dedicated to the memory and history of Pandino, and contemporary art collective shows. In the castle's inner arena, you can purchase the excellent products from the Dairy School, an institution that has been training cheesemakers for the region for over a century and preserves the knowledge related to local cheeses.
Alongside the cultural events, the fair features a car and motorcycle exhibition, highly popular with enthusiasts, and a large funfair set up in the days before and after the main Sunday, designed especially for families and children. Itinerant performances, games, and entertainment complete the program.
Organized by the Municipality of Pandino together with the Pro Loco and local associations, the Saint Joseph's Fair is much more than a market: it's the moment when the town comes together, celebrates its history, and welcomes visitors from the province of Cremona and all of Lombardy. The official opening, with the town band and majorettes, kicks off a day of celebration that unites generations and traditions.
The Saint Joseph's Fair 2026 returns on Sunday, March 15th, in the Visconteo Castle area of Pandino. The funfair, set up in the castle's external arena, accompanies the fair from March 6th to 16th. Sunday is the main day, with the official opening, exhibitions in the manor's halls, markets, typical products, and street food.
Pandino is located in the province of Cremona, a few kilometers from Crema. By car, it can be reached via the SP35 and the network of provincial roads connecting Cremasco to Milan and Bergamo. The nearest train station is in Crema, with connections by local buses.
Admission to the fair is free. The main day is Sunday, with an official opening at 10:30 AM; the funfair remains active for several days in the external arena of the castle.
