Saint Joseph Festival in Calcarelli

2025 Edition

The 2025 edition of the Saint Joseph Festival in Castellana Sicula, particularly felt in the village of Calcarelli, took place around March 19th, dedicated to faith, traditions, and works of art. The Solemn Mass with the participation of the confraternities served as the religious heart of the day.

Central, as per tradition, was the virginieddi ritual: families set up tables with local products - from tagghiarini with legumes and wild fennel to cardoons and battered salt cod, up to sfingi - inviting children and unmarried young people. The blessing of the tables sealed an event carried forward with devotion by the governors of the Saint Joseph confraternity and volunteers, with the patronage of the Municipality of Castellana Sicula.
