Edition 2025 — Saint John the Baptist

In 2025, on June 24th, Pescosansonesco once again celebrated Saint John the Baptist with the patronal festivities and solstitial rites that have characterized this Abruzzese event for centuries. The community of the Pescara village renewed the tradition of water and fire renewal and the 'comparatico', confirming the continuity of a still-living intangible cultural heritage.

The 2025 edition of the Saint John the Baptist Festival was held on June 24th in Pescosansonesco, in the province of Pescara. As per tradition, the celebrations in honor of the patron saint were combined with the solstitial rites of water and fire renewal: the blessing of the water for baptisms and the bonfires lit along the village. In 2025, the community also renewed the comparatico rite, with the exchange of 'ramajette' to seal the bonds of solidarity between the families of the village.
