Saint Egidio Abate Festival (Patron Saint of Rocca di Cave)

The 2025 edition

In 2025 as well, the patronal festival of Rocca di Cave took place on the canonical date of September 1st, the day the Church remembers Saint Egidio Abate. As per tradition, the community gathered for the solemn mass and the procession, the central moment of the day: the eight 'incollatori' carried the statue of the patron saint on their shoulders along about one kilometer of uphill road, from the small church of Saint Egidio to the church of San Nicola and back.

The recurrence, included in the official events calendar of the Municipality, confirms the continuity of a devotion rooted for centuries in this small center of the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region, and represents every year the occasion for the return to the village of families and residents who live far away.
