The Saint Donato Festival 2025
The 2025 edition of the Saint Donato Patronal Festival took place in Montesano Salentino (Lecce) on August 6th, 7th, and 8th, confirming the most anticipated summer event in this lower Salento village. The festival opened with the novena and solemn masses at the Mother Church, followed by the solemn procession of the saint's statue, accompanied by brass bands, to the Chapel of Saint Donato, featuring the traditional launch of hot air balloons and the symbolic handing over of the town's keys to the patron saint.
On the second day, the statue returned in procession to the parish, and the square hosted the Grand Brass Band Concert, while the Montesano Expo Trade Fair came to life along the town streets, with stalls, food stands, and typical products from Puglia. The festival concluded with a major musical show in Piazza IV Novembre and fireworks, set against a backdrop of illuminations and popular participation that drew residents, returning emigrants, and visitors alike.
