Edition 2025 — Saint Blaise Salemi

In 2025, Salemi once again renewed its ancient devotion to Saint Blaise, co-patron of the city, on February 3rd. Women from the Rabato quarter molded the votive cavadduzzi and cuddureddi breads, which were blessed during the celebration, while the procession moved through the historic center to the Church of Saint Blaise, commemorating the liberation from the locusts of 1542.

The 2025 edition of the Saint Blaise Festival in Salemi, in the province of Trapani, took place on February 3rd according to rituals passed down for generations. The Arab Rabato quarter was once again the heart of the festival: here, women prepared the famous cavadduzzi and cuddureddi, votive breads made of flour and water, which were blessed during Mass.

The procession, which set off from the Norman-Swabian Castle, reached the Church of Saint Blaise, decorated with bay leaves and flowers, where the faithful received the blessing. The festival confirmed its dual nature as both a religious event and a popular re-enactment of the memory of the 1542 locust miracle.
