Edition 2025 — Saint Anthony the Abbot Cassaro

In 2025, Cassaro once again renewed its devotion to Saint Anthony the Abbot on January 17th. The festival followed the ritual unchanged over time: 21 cannon shots at dawn, Holy Mass, the Cialibru auction with gifts from the faithful, the blessing of animals and local produce, and in the evening, the procession of the statue through the streets of the Iblean village accompanied by the traditional Ciaccariata.

2025 Edition

The 2025 edition of the Saint Anthony the Abbot Festival in Cassaro, in the province of Syracuse, confirmed the vitality of a tradition deeply rooted in the Iblean community. On January 17th, the town awoke to 21 cannon shots, a prelude to a day entirely dedicated to the patron saint of animals and fire.

Among the most heartfelt moments were the Cialibru auction, with the offering of rabbits, cockerels, lambs, oranges, wine, and oil, the blessing of the animals on the parvis of the Church of Saint Anthony the Abbot, and the evening procession illuminated by the Ciaccariata, the torchlight run that has always accompanied the passage of the statue through the streets of Cassaro.
