Saint Anthony Abbot Festival in Troina

The 2025 edition of the Saint Anthony Abbot Festival in Troina confirmed the vitality of a centuries-old tradition. On the evening of January 16th, the pagghiara, the great eve bonfires, illuminated the neighborhoods of the Nebrodi village's historic center, following the wood collection carried out through the house-to-house quest.

Around the fires, symbols of purification and protection, traditional sweets and blessed biscuits were offered to the many visitors. Eucharistic celebrations at the Church of Santa Caterina, seat of the Confraternity of Saint Anthony Abbot, accompanied the two days of festivities, which concluded with the blessing of the faithful with the Saint's Relic. An event that, year after year, renews the bond between the Troina community and its patron saint.
