Saint Anthony Abbot Festival in Ispica

In January 2025, the Saint Anthony Abbot festival in Ispica, in the province of Ragusa, followed its usual course: a week of prayer triduums and reflections in the Church of Saint Anthony Abbot, culminating in the feast of the saint and the blessing of the animals on the parvis.

As per tradition, believers and families brought dogs, cats, and other animals before the church to receive the saint's blessing, in a rite that weaves together religious faith and the rural identity of the Val di Noto. The celebration reaffirmed the role of this recurrence among the most cherished winter events in the Iblean territory.
