Edition 2025 — Saint Anthony Abbot

The 2025 edition of the Saint Anthony Abbot Festival in Castelvecchio Subequo renewed the rites of Abruzzese popular tradition. Between January 16th and 17th, the Compari di Sant'Antonio, artists from Sulmona, visited the village homes with the parish priest. On Saturday, January 18th, at 4:00 PM, the festival concluded in the square with the lighting of the large bonfire and the blessing of the animals.

In January 2025, the Saint Anthony Abbot Festival enlivened Castelvecchio Subequo with its customary sequence of rites. On January 16th and 17th, the Compari di Sant'Antonio, coming from nearby Sulmona, carried out the singers' quest from house to house, also reaching the local school and the "Villa Franca" retirement home, with the participation of the parish priest.

On Saturday, January 18th, at 4:00 PM, the conclusion took place in the square adjacent to the Town Hall: the blessing of the animals officiated by the parish priest, the lighting of a large bonfire, and the offering of traditional products cooked by the Pro Loco. Accompanying the evening, at the foot of the snow-capped Mount Sirente, was Abruzzese folk music performed by the group I Lupi della Maiella.
