Edition 2025 — Saint Anthony Abbot Bonfire

In 2025, the Saint Anthony Abbot Bonfire was renewed on January 17th in Santa Maria del Ponte (Tione degli Abruzzi), faithful to an ancient rite that gathers the hamlet's community around the great fire every year. The blessing of animals, the lighting of the pyre on the square, and the flavors of Abruzzo's rustic cuisine marked an evening of devotion and sharing.

The 2025 edition of the Saint Anthony Abbot Bonfire took place as per tradition on January 17th in Santa Maria del Ponte, a hamlet of Tione degli Abruzzi, in the province of L'Aquila.

Organized by the Santa Maria del Ponte Cultural and Recreational Association, the festival featured the blessing of animals and work tools, the lighting of the imposing conical bonfire on the village square, and the sharing of local rustic dishes, including pork rinds and beans, sagne and beans, and grilled sausages.
