Edition 2025 — Saint Alexander Festival

On May 3, 2025, Barrafranca celebrated the Saint Alexander Patronal Festival with the traditional procession of the statue along the Via dei Santi. As customary, in the afternoon, the Marching Band and the Confraternity of Saint Alexander collected bread offerings from the faithful; at 6:30 PM, Holy Mass was celebrated, and at 7:00 PM, the procession began, featuring the characteristic races of the float in the Sotto Serra and Puntaterra countryside to bless the fields.

Saint Alexander Festival 2025 in Barrafranca

The 2025 edition of the patronal festival took place regularly on May 3rd in Barrafranca (Enna province), as documented by local media. The day followed the traditional rite: in the afternoon, the bread collection with the Marching Band and the Confraternity of Saint Alexander through the town streets, at 6:30 PM the solemn Holy Mass, and at 7:00 PM the departure of the statue for the "U Viaggiu a Santruscianniru" procession. The most anticipated moment was the races of the float towards the Sotto Serra and Puntaterra districts, an ancient propitiatory rite for the blessing of the fields that renews the bond of the local community with its patron saint every year.
