Sagra du Diaulicchie Ascquante Festival

The 2025 Sagra du Diaulicchie Ascquante was held on September 6th and 7th in the historic center of San Simone, a hamlet of Crispiano (TA), confirming its status as one of the most popular late-summer gastronomic events in the Taranto area.

The absolute star was the spicy chili pepper, featured in numerous traditional specialties at the stalls, with offerings also curated by chef Simone Rodio and local restaurateurs. Great attention was also given to the exhibition of chili peppers from all over the world: guests included Professor Massimo Biagi from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Pisa, one of Europe's leading experts in the field, who presented part of his collection of approximately 1,400 varieties. The evenings were enlivened by live music, with the Limite orchestra and the Edizione straordinaria orchestra, in a festive atmosphere that filled the village alleys. Admission was free.
