The September festival in Pionca
The Sagra di Pionca is the most anticipated event in the hamlet of Pionca di Vigonza, in the province of Padua. Every September, around the parish church of Sant'Ambrogio, in via Meucci, the community gathers for days of celebration that combine religious tradition, gastronomy, and entertainment.
Food, games, and horses
The heart of the festival is the food stand, open every evening with traditional dishes, alongside the funfair, charity fishing, and children's games. Among the most characteristic events is Pionca Cavalli, the equestrian event that brings shows and demonstrations on horseback to the village, along with parades of vintage cars and motorcycles.
Sports, workshops, and community
The programme also includes sports events, workshops, and entertainment, in a format that involves all ages. The festival is an occasion for meeting and socialising, in the spirit that has always animated village festivals in the Padua area.
An event by the parish
The Sagra di Pionca is organised by the Parrocchia S. Ambrogio di Pionca (Parish of St. Ambrose of Pionca), as part of the Pastoral Unit of Peraga, Pionca, Vigonza, and Codiverno, thanks to the commitment of volunteers. It is a fixed event on Vigonza's late-summer calendar.
Sagra di Pionca — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Sagra di Pionca takes place from September 12th to 16th around the church of Sant'Ambrogio in Pionca di Vigonza. The festivities will be opened by the dinner on Thursday, September 11th (8:00 PM) themed 'The smile starts here!', by reservation.
For five days, the festival offers the food stand, funfair, charity fishing, sports events, Pionca Cavalli with equestrian shows, vintage car and motorcycle parades, and workshops. The event is organised by the Parish of Sant'Ambrogio of Pionca.
