The pumpkin festival in Osmate

The Sagra della Zucca, known to most as Zuccagnata, is the autumn festival of the hamlet of Osmate, part of the municipality of Cadrezzate con Osmate, in the province of Varese. Organized by the Pro Loco di Osmate with the patronage of the Municipality, it is one of the most beloved autumn festivals in the area, nestled in the greenery just a short walk from Lake Monate.

Two weekends of taste

The festival takes place over two weekends, with food stalls open for lunch and dinner. The star is the pumpkin, featured in numerous traditional dishes, alongside the unmissable roasted chestnuts and seasonal specialties. Good food is at the heart of the festival, accompanied by convivial moments such as the lunch dedicated to the village elders.

Music, market and families

Alongside the food, the Zuccagnata offers evenings with live music and local bands, an artisan market, bouncy castles and games for children, as well as events dedicated to the community such as the awarding of scholarships. A programme designed to involve all ages, in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

A village festival

The result of the work of Pro Loco volunteers, the Sagra della Zucca is much more than a gastronomic event: it is the moment when the small village of Osmate comes together to celebrate the arrival of autumn and the fruits of the earth. With free admission, the event attracts visitors from neighbouring municipalities and the Varese lake district, confirming itself as one of the most genuine autumn sagre (local festivals) in the area.
