Sagra de lu Cardiscia Festival

The 2025 edition of the Sagra de lu Cardiscia took place in Alessano in early August, in the heart of the Lower Salento summer. The town welcomed residents and tourists around the food stalls dedicated to lu cardiscia, the wild cardoon that is the star of traditional peasant omelets, soups, and preserves in oil.

As every year, the festival combined the pleasure of dining with the conviviality of Puglian village feasts: outdoor tables, typical local products, and evenings animated by Salento folk music and dancing. An opportunity to rediscover a humble ingredient and the authentic flavors of the Capo di Leuca, just minutes from Santa Maria di Leuca.
