Rosari – Almabtrieb in Lajen (Rosary Transhumance)

On Sunday, October 5, 2025, Lajen celebrated the traditional Rosary transhumance. The festival in the square began at 10:00 AM with music, traditional dances, and stalls selling local products, while the livestock procession kicked off at 3:00 PM.

Approximately 50 animals—cows adorned with flower crowns and pine branches, along with carts and vintage tractors—descended from the pastures of the Rasciesa Alp, parading through the village streets accompanied by farmers and their families. As per tradition, the Lajen Almabtrieb marked the thanksgiving for a successful grazing season in one of the most evocative settings of the South Tyrolean Dolomites.
