The short film festival in the heart of Rome

The Roma Creative Contest is one of Italy's most significant festivals dedicated to short cinema. Created to provide a platform for emerging filmmakers, the event is produced by the Image Hunters cultural association and has been under the honorary presidency of Oscar winner Giuseppe Tornatore since 2014. Over the years, the festival has established itself as a vital showcase for both Italian and international directors, many of whom have gone on to achieve significant recognition within the national film industry.

An international competition in Rome

The event takes place in the City of Rome, the capital of the Lazio region. Recent editions have been hosted in the Trastevere district, utilizing venues such as Spazio Scena, the WeGil cultural center, and the Cinema Troisi. The core of the festival is its competition, divided into several categories:

• Italian short films (fiction);
• International short films (fiction);
• Animated short films (2D, 3D, stop motion);
• Short documentaries;
• Music videos.

Selected works compete for a substantial prize pool, including cash awards, products, and post-production services totaling approximately 50,000 euros, providing winners with concrete support for their future projects.

The Roma Creative Contest is more than just a film competition; it is a space for training and dialogue for industry professionals. The program complements screenings with a series of professional activities, including the Screenplay Contest for emerging writers, Casting Training sessions with casting directors and agents, workshops, masterclasses, and meetings with the directors of Italy's major film festivals.
