Rite of the Comparanza (Comparatico in San Pietro)

The 2025 edition

The 2025 Rite of the Comparanza confirmed the vitality of this ancient tradition shared between Rocca di Botte, in the Abruzzo Marsica, and Trevi nel Lazio. On August 31, 2025, the Bishop of Avezzano, Monsignor Giovanni Massaro, traveled to Trevi nel Lazio: after the meeting between the mayors and the small procession of the 'compari' from Rocca di Botte, he celebrated Holy Mass, pausing for a long time in prayer, on his knees, before the urn that holds the remains of Saint Peter the Hermit.

The return visit took place on Sunday, September 7, 2025, on the occasion of the octave. In Rocca di Botte, the feast of the Patron Saint was held, including the wreath-laying ceremony for the fallen, the procession through the village streets, and the solemn Holy Mass at 7:00 PM, presided over by the Bishop. During the first ten days of September, the Panarda ritual with the offering of Saint Peter's blessed bread was also held.
