Three days of villages, communities, and future traditions in Val di Fiastra
Qui Val di Fiastra is the concluding event of the cultural and social regeneration project of the same name, which won the PNRR Borghi (Line B – Attractiveness of villages) call for proposals, funded by the Ministry of Culture with over two million euros. Promoted by the Municipalities of Ripe San Ginesio (lead partner), Loro Piceno, and Colmurano, in collaboration with the research laboratory Inabita, the project aims to counteract the abandonment of small villages in the Province of Macerata and to build new development trajectories that intertwine cultural heritage, production knowledge, innovation, and training.
From June 5th to 7th, 2026, the valley comes alive with a three-day event spread across Abbadia di Fiastra and the three involved municipalities: conferences, inaugurations, photographic exhibitions, landscape walks, markets, street food, workshops, and many live performances, all with free admission.
In Loro Piceno, within the evocative Cloister of San Francesco, the heart of the event is the inauguration of the Space of Future Traditions (LUMA), housed in the former Museum of Cooked Wine. It is a multifunctional space designed as a hub for businesses, artisans, professionals, and training institutions: an educational and museum area with interactive installations and digital storytelling dedicated to the agricultural and artisanal memory of the territory, alongside an experiential and production area conceived as a permanent laboratory. It is here that, in the preceding weeks, the 'Future Traditions Workshops' dedicated to ceramics, lavender, fermentation, and indigo dyeing were held, in collaboration with Design Terrae.
The highlight in Loro Piceno is the evening of Saturday, June 6th: at 7:00 PM, the inauguration of the Space of Future Traditions in the Cloister of San Francesco, followed in the evening by Orto dei Pensieri, an event that combines live music and illustrations in an intimate and creative atmosphere.
The project leaves behind a hiking loop connecting the historic centers of the valley, a museum network with a single ticket, and a digital platform for citizens and visitors. Qui Val di Fiastra is not just a closing festival, but the beginning of a new chapter for this corner of the Marche hinterland, where tradition and future meet.
The three-day event from June 5th-7th, 2026, marks the concluding moment of the PNRR Borghi Qui Val di Fiastra project, with a packed program spread across Abbadia di Fiastra and the municipalities of Loro Piceno, Ripe San Ginesio, and Colmurano (Province of Macerata). Conferences dedicated to village regeneration policies, inaugurations of new spaces, a photographic exhibition, landscape walks, a bike tour, markets for crafts and local products, street food, and numerous live performances make up a program designed to engage communities and visitors. In Loro Piceno, the focus is the opening of the Space of Future Traditions in the Cloister of San Francesco. Admission to all events is free and open to the public.
The events take place between Abbadia di Fiastra and the municipalities of Loro Piceno, Ripe San Ginesio, and Colmurano (Province of Macerata, Marche). In Loro Piceno, the focal point is the Cloister of San Francesco, home to the Space of Future Traditions.
From June 5th to 7th, 2026. In Loro Piceno: Saturday, June 6th, from 7:00 PM.
All events are free and open to the public. The Sunday bike tour requires booking.
Loro Piceno is reachable by car from the SS77 Val di Chienti, exit Macerata/Tolentino, continuing towards the hinterland. By train, the nearest stations are Macerata and Tolentino, connected by local buses.
