Edition 2025 — Mysteries of Good Friday

In 2025, an odd-numbered year, the Procession of the Mysteries of Good Friday took place on Friday, April 18, and was entrusted to the Pia Unione dei Misteri di San Gregorio, the "venteluse". The ten Companies carried the statues of the Passion in procession, starting from the Pontifical Basilica of Saint Nicholas, with a particular ecumenical dimension linked to Easter being celebrated on the same date by Catholics and Orthodox.

2025 Edition: the Mysteries of San Gregorio

The 2025 edition of the Procession of the Mysteries, celebrated on Good Friday, April 18, in Bari, was that of the Pia Unione dei Misteri di San Gregorio, according to the alternation of odd-numbered years. For over a quarter of a century, the starting point has no longer been the church of San Gregorio but the Pontifical Basilica of Saint Nicholas. The ten Companies, each dedicated to a moment of the Passion, crossed the alleys of the Old Town and Corso Vittorio Emanuele with the pious practice of the Stations of the Cross.

In 2025, the coincidence of Catholic and Orthodox Easter gave the procession an ecumenical character: some young Orthodox believers joined the Bearers in Piazza Garibaldi, carrying a wooden ark covered in flowers, a symbol of the Holy Sepulcher. An edition particularly significant for the community of the Municipality of Bari and for the whole of Puglia.
