Edition 2025 — Procession of the Mysteries

In 2025, the Holy Week Rites of Montemesola, culminating in the Good Friday Procession of the Mysteries on April 18th, were marked by an important novelty: the participation of about one hundred women, who played a leading role in the rites, overcoming ancient traditional barriers. The Confraternity of San Michele Arcangelo oversaw every detail of the celebration.

The 2025 edition of the Procession of the Mysteries of Montemesola took place on the evening of Good Friday, April 18th, with the silent procession moving from the Church of San Michele Arcangelo through the streets of the town.

Among the most evocative elements were the faces covered by white hoods, the long robes brushing the asphalt, the barefoot penitents under the weight of the cross, and the sacred statues carried on shoulders. Silence fell like a mantle over the community, in a deep and authentic participation. The novelty of the year was the presence of about one hundred women, protagonists of the Rites, testifying to a living tradition that renews itself. The care of the rites was entrusted to the Confraternity of San Michele Arcangelo, guardian of the sacred, together with the Confraternity of the Santissimo Rosario.
