Edition 2025 — Good Friday in Squinzano

In 2025, the Procession of the Dead Christ was held on Friday, April 18. As per tradition, at 8:30 PM, the statues of the Dead Christ and Our Lady of Sorrows departed from the Church of the Calvary to traverse the streets of the center of Squinzano, accompanied by funeral marches, returning to the Mother Church. The Confraternity of Our Lady of Sorrows led the rite, which culminated on Easter Sunday with the meeting between the Mother and the Risen Christ in Piazza San Nicola.

The 2025 edition of Holy Week in Squinzano renewed the rites of Good Friday, April 18, with the solemn procession of the Mysteries through the town's streets. The statues of the Dead Christ, carried on the shoulders of the faithful, and the Virgin of Sorrows, dressed in black with her heart pierced by a sword, crossed the historic center to the slow rhythm of funeral marches. On Holy Saturday morning, the silent transfer of the statues preceded the night of the Resurrection. On Easter Sunday, in Piazza San Nicola, the Virgin of Sorrows was stripped of her black mantle to meet the Risen One, in an atmosphere of applause and emotion shared by the entire Squinzano community.
