Procession of the Dead Christ and Our Lady of Sorrows (Good Friday)

The 2025 edition of the Good Friday Procession took place in Alcamo on Friday, April 18, 2025, confirming one of the oldest and most deeply felt traditions of the Sicilian Holy Week.

In the afternoon, the glass urn containing the effigy of the Dead Christ emerged from the Church of Sant'Oliva, followed by the statue of Our Lady of Sorrows, dressed in purple with a black mantle adorned with gold. The effigies were carried on the shoulders of congregants, dressed in black with crowns of thorns on their heads, while numerous faithful followed the procession barefoot.

In 2025, there was also no shortage of children in costume portraying characters of the Passion, who gave the procession its customary popular charm along the streets of the historic center of Alcamo, in the province of Trapani.
