The 2025 edition
The 2025 festival of Maria SS. del Lume at the Noviziato was celebrated in Palermo from Friday, July 18 to Sunday, July 27, renewing a devotion that has been alive for nearly three centuries. In the days leading up to the procession, the parish of San Stanislao Kostka at the Noviziato hosted holy masses, prayer sessions, and floral tributes, with daily appointments in the late afternoon that involved the faithful of the Capo-Noviziato district.
The highlight was the procession on Sunday, July 27, when the statue of the Madonna del Lume—a sculptural work from 1905—left the church to be carried on shoulders through the streets of the district, accompanied by devotional hymns, brass bands, and torches. The return of the float to the church was greeted by a grand fireworks display, sealing a day of intense popular participation.
