Prickly Pear Mustard Festival

The 2025 Prickly Pear Mustard Festival was held on September 27 and 28 in Gagliano Castelferrato (Enna), effectively inaugurating the season of major Sicilian autumn festivals. For the first time, the event took place in the Piano Puleo area, welcoming numerous exhibitors from across the island.

The star, as always, was the 'Bastardone di Sicilia' prickly pear and the mustard cooked in traditional quadaruni; a new addition to the edition was the introduction of cooked wine. The program included an inauguration in the morning, a cooking show, a conference on development strategies for inland areas, a Pinocchio show for children, and guided tours. On the musical front, on September 27, the comedy show by Giovanni Vernia was followed by a DJ set by Luigi Mastroianni, while on September 28, the band GYLDAC performed live. The event, with free admission, was organized by the Pro Loco of Gagliano Castelferrato.
