Posidonia Festival

Posidonia Festival 2025 — 4th Edition

From July 20 to 25, 2025, the Tremiti Islands hosted the fourth edition of the Posidonia Festival, featuring 18 free activities spread over five days and six evenings. The festival offered snorkeling and diving guided by marine biologists, environmental education activities on the beaches, workshops for children, boat excursions, citizen science projects, and the cleanup of the coves of San Domino and Caprara.

The evenings in Piazza Belvedere brought together 15 guests, including scientists, journalists, and well-known figures in science communication: from Donatella Bianchi to Luca Sardella, from climatologist Luca Mercalli to deep-sea explorer Roberto Rinaldi, alongside researchers from CNR-Irbim, ISPRA, Arpa Puglia, Marevivo, and the Italian Naval League. Coordination was handled by Gaetano Simone and Vivien Estelle Williams, with organization by Marlin Tremiti and the Laboratorio del Ma.Re., and support from the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security.

2025 Edition Structure

Five days of daytime activities and six evenings of meetings, from July 20 to 25, all with free admission.

• Daytime: snorkeling and diving with marine biologists and diving instructors, environmental education on the beaches, workshops for children, boat excursions, citizen science, and cleanup of the coves of San Domino and Caprara.
• Evening: outreach meetings in Piazza Belvedere with scientists, journalists, and TV guests, video screenings, and educational sessions at the Laboratorio del Ma.Re.
• Presentation evening on the Gargano coast, in Rodi Garganico.

Guests of the 4th edition included: Donatella Bianchi, Luca Sardella, climatologist Luca Mercalli, and explorer Roberto Rinaldi, along with researchers from CNR-Irbim, ISPRA, Arpa Puglia, Marevivo, and the Italian Naval League.
