Photolux Festival 2024 — «Il bel paese?»
The sixth edition of the Photolux Festival was held in Lucca from November 23 to December 15, 2024, titled «Il bel paese?», a journey of nineteen exhibitions dedicated to questioning the image of Italy and its contemporary identity.
Among the main venues, Palazzo Ducale hosted the major retrospective of Massimo Vitali, «Sotto questo sole», featuring three decades of photographs and the first public presentation of his archive, while Villa Bottini welcomed the World Press Photo exhibition. The program also included international awards such as the Leica Oskar Barnack Award, the Romano Cagnoni Award, and the Photolux Intarget Award, as well as social reportage projects like «Omicidio bianco» by Massimo Mastrorillo. Numerous talks, workshops, and meetings were held, with a particular focus on the relationship between photography, artificial intelligence, and new technologies.
