About Percussion Festival

The Percussion Festival of the "Lorenzo Perosi" Conservatory is the event that transforms Campobasso into the Italian capital of high-level percussion training each year. Now in its seventeenth edition in 2026, it brings together nationally and internationally renowned timpanists, vibraphonists, and percussionists, ensembles from other conservatories, and young students, in three days of concerts, masterclasses, and free admission events. The heart of the event is the "Marzio Rosi" International Award, dedicated to the memory of the composer and educator.

Percussion Takes Center Stage in Campobasso

The Percussion Festival is organized by the "Lorenzo Perosi" State Conservatory of Music in Campobasso, the capital of Molise. The event, under the artistic direction of maestro Giulio Costanzo, is entirely dedicated to the world of percussion and advanced musical training, with a particular focus on young students.

Guests and Ensembles

Each edition brings leading soloists and educators to Campobasso: principal timpanists from major opera houses, jazz vibraphonists, international percussionists, along with ensembles from other Italian conservatories. The festival thus becomes an opportunity for exchange and growth for the students of the Perosi Conservatory, in dialogue with established masters.

The Marzio Rosi International Award

Within the festival, the "Marzio Rosi" International Award is presented, named in memory of the composer and educator. This award links the Molise event to the national and international percussion scene, confirming the role of the Perosi Conservatory as a center for advanced artistic training in the Molise Region.

Percussion Festival — edition 2026

The 17th edition of the Percussion Festival of the Perosi Conservatory of Campobasso took place from May 7 to 9, 2026, under the artistic direction of Giulio Costanzo. Among the guests were Gabriele Cappelletto, principal timpanist of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Brazilian percussionist Gabriel Prado, jazz vibraphonist Pierpaolo Bisogno, and Marco Molino. The "Marzio Rosi" International Award was presented.

The 17th edition of the Percussion Festival confirmed the "Lorenzo Perosi" Conservatory of Campobasso as a reference point for advanced percussion training. Directed by maestro Giulio Costanzo, the 2026 edition hosted the Percussion Ensemble of the "Nicolini" Conservatory of Piacenza (dir. M° Loris Stefanuto) and students from the "Imbriani" Musical High School of Avellino, as well as a series of nationally and internationally prominent soloists.
